Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Who is eligible for cover under the GlobalHealth Asia medical insurance plans?

Individuals and families residing in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, China and other parts of Asia at the time of application are eligible for cover.   Corporations based in Asia are also eligible for cover under our plans.  The eligibility rules may vary by product that you are interested in.  Please contact GlobalHealth Asia to get advice on the most appropriate plan for you.

Are there any age limits for coverage?

The minimum age at entry for individual enrolment is 18 years. Children below age 18 may be covered only as dependants on their parent/guardian’s policy. The maximum age at entry is 65 years for most of our plans.

Do the plans renew automatically?

With most of our plans, we offer automatic renewal, up to age 100 or even life time. On some of our plans, we offer year-long renewable insurance contracts where prior to your policy expiration, you will be sent a renewal notice and quotation to the latest address held on file, advising you of your renewal premium.  Please call us to discuss the plan that is most suitable for your needs.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

GlobalHealth operates on a Full Medical Underwriting approach which means as part of the application process, you will be required to disclose all medical conditions, signs and symptoms.  We will always make an attempt to cover your pre-existing conditions and may require a premium loading or a cap on benefits.  We believe this is a more straightforward and honest approach than offering a pre-existing waiting period/moratorium.

What coverage is available for Chronic Conditions?

GlobalHealth Asia offers comprehensive, full refund coverage for pre-existing conditions, acute and non-acute, even on an out-patient basis.

Will my premiums increase with age?

Your premium is calculated based on the age at policy inception and subsequent renewals.

Are any other premium increases applicable?

Yes, your premiums will increase in line with medical treatment inflation.

Who do I contact in case of an emergency?

Travel Guard Asia Pacific and AA International are our chosen emergency/evacuation providers who will be able to assist you with any medical emergencies.  Their phone number is printed on every member card.

How do GlobalHealth Asia Plans compare to my existing medical insurance coverage?

GlobalHealth Asia plans offer extremely good ‘value for money’ and are superior to most of the alternatives in the market today. We would be pleased to take a look at your existing coverage and provide you with a detailed comparison – just get in touch with us!

How do I submit a claim and what information is required?

To submit a claim, we required a completed claim form and the actual bills and receipts.  But for some policies, we accept scanned copies and claims submissions by email.  Please contact us and we can advise you of the various options on our plans.

Is it possible for GlobalHealth Asia to pay the medical provider directly?

Yes, in many cases GlobalHealth Asia can arrange to pay the provider directly, both for out-patient treatments and hospitalisation.  For planned hospitalisations, please inform GlobalHealth three (3) to five (5) working days in advance so that we can obtain the necessary information to arrange the Letter of Guarantee.

For out-patient treatments, members with nil deductible policies can enjoy out-patient direct billing with over 2,000 providers in Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Vietnam and the rest of Asia by simply showing your GlobalHealth card.
